Long Term effects on Mechanicals and Magnetic Medium

Hello,

I've been using this great little app for a few days now to counter my new WD Elements 4TB drive's nasty habit to park its head 50 times per hour... Setting the write delay at 4 seconds (OEM head parking is set at 8 seconds of inactivity!), I now average 5 Load Cycle Count per day has opposed to 200 within the first few hours once I took it out of the box!

What I'm wondering is two fold: what effect could writing the file constantly every few seconds have on mechanical wear, and could this constant writing wear out the magnetic medium?

Thanks in advance for this great app and for your feedback on this!

Even if the file is stored to the same location on the disk every time, i don't think it will wear the disk.
Maybe there is way to just append the file every time with some data so it will grow and just use new empty disk space every time. Then just occasionally delete it so it doesn't grow too much.
